Digital Access Day

Community Service

Project Description:
Digital Access Day (D.A.D.) is an annual event that builds bridges across the digital divide for community members. Network Academy graduates and SU faculty and students present new and existing computer technologies to South Side residents through hands-on demonstrations. This year’s D.A.D. event focused on Robotics via the iCAN Robotics Program (a collaborative venture between Syracuse University and Mercy Works).

Since 2006 the S.U. South Side Initiative Office, S.U. School of Information Studies and SCC has provided an annual computer technology demonstration on South Salina Street between Colvin Avenue and Brighton Avenue. Past DADs included hands on demonstration of wireless internet connectivity to 5th graders of the Martin Luther King School and a demonstration of point to point wireless video conferencing.
