Project Description:
This project is the manifestation of the dialogue between the faculty of the SU School of Information Studies and community leaders about the lack of computer literacy and digital access on the South Side of Syracuse. The electronic village projects consists of a technology initiative, developed by Professor Murali Venkatesh of the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, in order to inform South Side residents about computer technologies, for the purpose of creating employment and boosting communication opportunities. The electronic village projects include: the Side Communications Center, Stand newspaper, the Wireless project, Community Technology Workshops, Networking Academy classes and Digital Access Day.
